culturally christian athiests and pagans cannot stand the idea that christmas is inherently christian. you cannot secularly celebrate christmas. it is not possible. you can distance yourself from the religious narrative. you don’t even have to be christian to celebrate. but you cannot remove the christian context of the holiday. it exists and will always exist.
if a non-christian doesn’t celebrate christmas its because they don’t want a celebrate a christian holiday. they aren’t being a killjoy. it just isn’t their religion.
